The 2017 Reggae on the River artist lineup draws from the wellspring of reggae’s greatest songwriters, singers and musicians offering options for every reggae lover. Artists that have shaped the music since its origins in Jamaica, those that make rare US appearances, groups that are part of the expansive global family of reggae musicians are all part of this year’s roster.

Just announced is a headliner package with Sly & Robbie who have performed and recorded as a drum and bass duo on thousands of tracks. The “riddim twins” are part of a showcase with Bob Marley and the Wailer’s I-Threes harmony singers Marcia Griffiths andJudy Mowatt who along with next generation artist Cherine Andersonwill perform some of the classics from the catalog and individually as solo artists. This is an unprecedented female reggae package to close out the 2017 Reggae on the River.

West Coast style reggae is represented with headliner Slightly Stoopid an all star set of musicians with a full horn section that formulated their sound by learning from some of Jamaican reggae’s greatest mentors. Getting their start in San Diego, the group have toured non-stop for the past decade.

Headliner Assassin aka Agent Sasco has continued in the path of the firestorm of Jamaican dancehall influencing many of today’s popular tunes. Agent Sasco’s gravelly voice and thunderous flow ride the riddims in classic cultural dancehall style with lyrics that are full of vibes. His lyrical bars are found in Hiphop collaborations with artists Kendrick Lamar & Kanye West.

Kabaka Pyramid performs two sets during ROTR 2017, one with DJ & producer Walshy Fire from Major Lazer as part of their ACCURATE MIXTAPE collaboration to close the first day of the festival and one with his band the Bebble Rockers, an ensemble that creates music blending Jamaican rhythms with hip hop and the artist’s conscious, sharply delivered messages that aim to shake up the status quo.

In addition to four days of music, Reggae on the River will also host more than 60 arts and crafts vendors, non-profit booths, a wide choice of food options, a lively KidLandia, and the camping, community, and irie vibes that make Reggae famous.
