‘TO ALL MY RELATIONS’ TAJ WEEKES & ADOWA

PRESS RELEASE

TO ALL MY RELATIONS, THE 6TH ALBUM FROM ROOTS REGGAE GROUP TAJ WEEKES & ADOWA, IS A SOCIO-POLITICAL JOURNEY OF SELF-DISCOVERY
Tuesday, September 11, 2018 – New York – Internationally acclaimed roots reggae group Taj Weekes & Adowa announce the release of their 6th album, To All My Relations (TAMR), slated for worldwide release on all streaming and downloadable platforms on October 12th through Jatta Records and VPAL (the distribution arm of VP Records).  The album is available for pre-order on September 14th exclusively on iTunes and Apple Music.  Taj Weekes & Adowa plan to support the release with several events and a world tour, including an exclusive performance at the Apple Music store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on September 12th at 6:30pm.
Recorded and produced by Steel Pulse musician and producer Sidney Mills, TAMR is a culmination of the band’s collective experiences, travelling the United States over the last two years in the thick of the current political climate.  From Standing Rock to rural conservative America, the band experienced both sides of the socio-political coin.
Lyrically, songs such as “What do you believe in.,” “41 Shots”, and “The Lie” dive deep into our collective psyche to challenge our beliefs, with the hope of coming out on the other side with a love for one another that can overcome the false narratives designed to divide us.  “Narcissist” and “Son of a Bitch” are unfettered attacks at the current leadership. Island Stage Magazine “Vibe Up,” the first single on the album, is a call to action to stand and fight for what’s right – “we’re no paper lions.” Musically, Weekes’ hauntingly bewitching falsetto flawlessly weaves through an international musical landscape, which includes reggae one-drop rhythms, soulful R&B beats, Spanish bolero and Native American pow-pow and horns.  The album is beautifully summarized in the song, “You & I” which states, “The world outside your window isn’t fixed, and you and I have got to coexist.”
To All My Relations is added to the band’s growing discography, which includes Love Herb & Reggae (2016), Pariah in Transit (2014), A Waterlogged Soul Kitchen (2010), DEIDEM (2008) and Hope & Doubt (2005).
