One Love Festival 2015 UK

Around the first week of September 2015, I was approached by Bo Mac Agency in London alongside Pee Stephenson to capture the spirit of the ‘One Love’ festival, with the photography for Little Roy’s performance.

My assistant and I set off from South Wales on the Saturday 5th September to the new venue, Croft Farm Waterpark, Bredons Hardwick, Tewksbury, Gloucester in the English countryside.

Even though this was a three day weekender 4th-6th September, I was only available to go on the Saturday so knew I had my work cut out and had to capture the vibe, setting, atmosphere and artists as best I could.

The feeling of relaxation came to mind with the dazzling array of colours, families all gathered around their tents and camper vans, chilling out with their own BBQ’s, drinking, smoking  and enjoying each others company. This was a reggae weekender, but was a multi cultured event with people of all nationalities attending this festival. It was a mass of green fields filled with the vibe equivalent of a Download or Glastonbury festival.

Looking around I could see four main areas….Main Stage, Madiba Stage, Dubshack and Lively Up Yourself Area. The bottom end bass which could be felt, thumping out  from the car park at the top of the hill was coming from the Dubshack marquee. There was plenty to see with a varied array of mini stalls selling anything from clothing, head-wear, and instruments.

The aroma of jerked food was dominant also with many food stalls cooking jerk pork, chicken, rice peas, dumplings, plantain, callaloo, patties and many other beautiful Caribbean dishes.

We headed to the main stage and already up and performing was artist/musician Horseman and The Upper Cut Band. With his deep sounding patois Horseman put on a great performance.

Little Roy came on stage around 4pm.. Very smooth and tranquil, with a great voice which captivated me and the audience. Little Roy is very experienced in the studio and live work, he sure knows how to bring it to the highest level.

After Little Roy were Macka B and iQulah Rastafari….both equally as good with the crowd filling up the festival  throughout the evening.
