Global Reggae Charts – Issue 12 // April 2018

Issue 12 of the Global Reggae Charts magazine is out now. This month we feature Etana – one of the well established female reggae artists, who’s wonderful new album “Reggae Forever” directly entered the album charts at #3. Additionally you will find a new chapter of the “Reggae Careers in the Internet Age” series, this time with a focus on streaming and playlists, and interview with Vladimir Zavialov of Russian reggae platform Daily Vibes. In the new section “Business Insight” we talk to successful people in the reggae industry, to get some insight on the way they are doing their business. This month we start with Mathieu Dassieu, CEO of Baco Records in France.
On the single chart we find a lot of songs that have been on the charts already last month. Capleton and Koffee continue to lead the charts, while Protoje – “Bout Noon” climbed up to #3. The first new entry can be found at #14 with Bryan Art – “Can’t Cut We Vibes”. At the places 18-20 we find more new entries coming from Italian reggae band Mellow Mood, Dennis Browns daughter Marla Brown and Jamaican reggae band Raging Fyah.
On the album charts we have a similar situation with only 25% new entries. Micah Shemaiah and Dubmatix with Sly & Robbie stay at the top of the charts, but changing places. Etana – our this month’s artist feature – managed to enter the charts at #3 with her album “Reggae Forever”. More new entries are coming from Bushman at #11, Alam at #14, Vibronics at #15 and Richie Phoe at #20.
The riddim charts are pretty stable as well. “Nice & Easy Riddim” stay at #3 for the third month, followed by “Yaad N Abraad Riddim” and “Civil Rights”. New entries are “Unity Riddim” at #4 and “Anti-Racism Riddim” from Giddimani Records, who also produced the “Civil Rights Riddim”, at #5.
The charts are online and can be found at www.globalreggaecharts.com. Voter registration is now open as well. Visit the site for all the details.
