Femhéka by Raxann Chin
Femhéka by Raxann Chin, is a dynamic fashion line with pieces designed to convey sophisticated-elegance, exquisite-taste, style, charm and sensuality.
Raxann Chin has been on the fashion scene since the tender age of 4 years old when she made her debut as a “kiddy” model in Jamaica. She has remained involved in the fashion and entertainment industries ever since as a print and runway model, actor, writer, producer and in several other capacities, in Jamaica and the world over. Raxann caught the attention of Lenny Little-White while a top-ten contestant in the Miss Jamaica World 1994 pageant, and landed a role on the TV series Royal Palm Estate. Although she had a very creative mind and an innate sense for design and detail, she did not anticipate fashion design to be her ultimate destination. After migrating from Jamaica in 1995, Raxann studied Journalism on a full academic scholarship and focused on her educational pursuits in being a Juvenile Attorney. After pursuing the corporate path; working as a Business Reporter, a Stock Broker, and her last role as a Merrill Lynch Financial Consultant that landed her in an executive program to develop the company’s top talent for upper-management positions, she began evaluating her direction and took a bold step to turn something that was once a world of dreams into reality.
It was a decision I had to make for me, I was in the midst of arguably the severest global recessionary times,
Watching everyone pack their boxes and lose their job security after working so hard to develop a corporation was the external factor I used as justification.
So strong is that love for design that she had to find an outlet for the many concepts and designs she would so often and easily conceive- and so Femhéka was born.
After the pre-launch of her brand in May of this year, Raxann Chin the brainchild of the clothing line Femhéka showed her collection, The Mystical Goddess, at Caribbean Fashion Week in June and have been making waves not only in Jamaica but also in Canada and the UK.
In less than three months Raxann has made serious strides in making a mark in the Fashion industry. London-based luxury fashion consultant David Jones, who has spent decades mentoring some of the world’s most successful designers and developing fashion houses such as — Matthew Williamson, Karen Millen, and John Galliano have given the line a thumbs up stating that Raxann Chin’s collection that showcased at Caribbean Fashion Week had some interesting pieces that would do well internationally.
Chin defines Femhéka as clothing which taps into the inner goddess. Inspired by Grecian aesthetics, with its signature use of coils and twists, Femhéka’s designs are the embodiment of sophistication, bohemian chic. Using silk chiffons, charmeuse, light linen and cotton gauzes, the line intends to combine international elegance with a light breezy feel. “Femhéka is about a lifestyle.” – Brand Jamaica Article.
Chin, who resides in New York chose Jamaica to launch her fashion line for patriotic reasons during the 50th year celebrations, and plans to support her country’s local economy by producing the bulk of her items in the country she proudly exclaims is …
